SCMA Conference Sells Out and Breaks All-Time Attendance Record

After 75 years, it was great for the masonry industry to show how strong our support is with the record turnout for the SCMA Annual Conference in Hilton Head, SC on August 26-29th. It had been two years since we were able to get our members together to talk about advancing masonry.

With a record crowd, the conference started with President James Cain discussing how well block has performed over the last three years. In 2020, block production across the five states went up 3.6M units (3%) even with the struggles through COVID. In the last three years, block production rose 15M units (12%) due to our members’ efforts along with the SCMA educational and promotional programs across our five states.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Casey Robb, did a wonderful job presenting the commercial sales training during the morning and afternoon sessions. A nice twist to this year’s conference was adding in nine breakout sessions with 198 attending those sessions. The banquet entertainment was from Ms. Ansley Burns, a semifinalist from America’s Got Talent. The banquet was capped with Mr. Paul LaVene receiving the Hall of Fame Award for his dedication and service to the masonry industry.

Here are a few additional highlights of the conference.

  • 171 total attendees from 10 states
  • 20 Suppliers from as far away as California
  • 17 Producing members from six states
  • 13 Companies were first time attendees

With only 10 months away, go ahead and mark your calendars for the 2022 SCMA Annual Conference on June 19 – 22, 2022, on St. Simons Island, GA!
