Activities
Educational Programs: Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations for architects, engineers, and academic institutions to foster safer construction practices.
Public Awareness: Promote the benefits of resilient and sustainable construction using concrete masonry and hardscape products through increased educational outreach to the general public.
Community-Based Programs: Implement programs aimed at raising awareness about building stronger and safer communities.
Skilled Labor Development: Design educational programs to cultivate a new generation of skilled workers in high schools and secondary schools.
Scholarships
Dr. Richard Bennett Engineering Scholarship Program
The Southeast Concrete Masonry Association (SCMA) has established the Dr. Richard Bennett Engineering Scholarship Program for full-time students engaged in the pursuit of an engineering (structural, architectural engineering, or related field) undergraduate or graduate degree at eligible colleges and universities in the North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee. The purpose of this program is to support students pursuing a degree in the engineering field while encouraging innovative design, application, or utilization of manufactured concrete masonry and/or hardscape products in the build community.
Up to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for each academic year to five different schools.
The Southeast Concrete Masonry Association (SCMA) has established the Paul LaVene Architecture Scholarship Program for full-time students engaged in the pursuit of an architecture undergraduate or graduate degree at eligible colleges and universities in the North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee. The purpose of this program is to support students pursuing a degree in the architecture field while encouraging innovative design, application, or utilization of manufactured concrete masonry and/or hardscape products in the build community.
